On October 17th, the day recreational cannabis became legal in Canada, The Cannabis Society and Fireside Cannabis hosted Canada’s largest premier Legalization Party at Love Child Social House in downtown Toronto. The event was a massive success, with well over 600 people in attendance, both cannabis professionals who were excited about this new opportunity, and recreational cannabis enthusiasts looking to actively combat the unfounded social stigma against cannabis use.

The evening included various lounges, educational opportunities, and a massive balloon drop, supported by sponsors Fireside Cannabis, Licensed Medical Cannabis Producer INDIVA and media platform Jadeo.  Guests had the chance to learn onsite about how these phenomenal brands are changing the Canadian cannabis landscape and providing much needed services to an ever-growing market.

CBC News and CP24 anchors were present at the event, interviewing various cannapreneurs and covering the action as The Cannabis Society and Love Child Social House ushered in a historic start to nationwide cannabis legalization. Photographers and videographers weaved between guests enjoying cocktails and celebrating the end to prohibition.

Fireside Cannabis had their lounge on stage, where guests could take pictures in front of a glowing neon flame, while also enjoy Fireside Cannabis merchandise, including blankets and mugs. Brand Ambassadors educated those interested about how Fireside Cannabis products would be available post legalization.

Jadeo had a neighbouring lounge in which their enthusiastic team chatted with visitors about how Jadeo has created a wellness information and community platform that will change the world. Jadeo.co is the global digital destination for the latest reliable news, industry expert connections and insight, and hyper-relevant learning and support for consumers and businesses alike. They discussed their company’s Canadian roots, and their team explained how delighted they are to create a new accessible and inclusive digital destination for all.

INDIVA’s Master Grower Pete Young was singing copies of his brand-new book The High Road, while the rest of the INDIVA team provided visitors with important information about the history of cannabis and how INDIVA would be making their products accessible in the near future.

The Cannabis Society President Bill Hennessey addressed the packed room, thanking everyone for coming and reiterating how historic this moment truly was in Canada’s history. This brought a close to the informative portion of the evening, after which a DJ took the stage and guests danced the night away.  At midnight, Love Child initiated their signature balloon drop, and guests danced as they were covered in Fireside balloons.
